Ridge Readers — DMIT (Dermatoglyphics Multiple Intelligence Test) Services

This Privacy Policy explains how Ridge Readers (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects the personal and biometric data of clients and, where applicable, their parents or guardians (“you”), in connection with DMIT (Dermatoglyphics Multiple Intelligence Test) services. This policy is written to be consistent with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA) of India.

Who We Are

Ridge Readers is an independent practice offering DMIT assessment and counselling services. Ridge Readers acts as the “Data Fiduciary” responsible for the collection, use, and safeguarding of your personal data as described in this policy.

What Personal Data We Collect

To conduct a DMIT assessment, we collect the following information from you or your parent/guardian:

Client’s full name, date of birth/ age, profession, education and gender
Address
Father’s name
For clients below 18 years: a parent’s (mother’s or father’s) contact number and email address
For adult clients: the client’s own contact number and email address
Scanned fingerprint images of all 10 fingers, captured using a digital scanner for a temporary stipulated period to assist generating of the report.

We only collect what is necessary to generate and explain your DMIT report.

How We Collect This Data

Personal and contact details are entered directly into the DMIT application used for the assessment. Fingerprint scans are captured using a digital fingerprint scanner connected to a laptop and adequately secured with industry-based protocols relevant to us.

Why We Collect and Use This Data

We use your personal and biometric data only for purposes connected to the DMIT assessment, specifically to:

Study and analyse fingerprint ridge patterns
Generate the DMIT report using our assessment software
Conduct a 1-on-1 interpretation session with the client (or parent/guardian, if the client is a minor) to explain findings and recommend suitable learning styles, streams, or career direction

We do not use your data for any purpose beyond the assessment and counselling process based on DMIT.

Sharing of Data

We do not share your personal or biometric data with any third party.

How Fingerprint Data Is Handled

Fingerprint scans are captured and processed using a digital fingerprint scanner connected to a laptop and adequately secured with industry-based protocols relevant to us. Fingerprint images are used only to generate your DMIT report.

Data Storage and Security

Client details and reports are stored securely, with access limited to the practitioner with high levels of security protocols. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse, in line with the security obligations under the DPDPA.

Data Retention

Scanned fingerprint images are retained for a maximum of 15 days after your interpretation session, after which they are permanently deleted.

Client details and the generated DMIT report are retained for future reference, unless you request earlier deletion or a longer period is required to meet a legal or regulatory obligation. After this period, the data is securely deleted.

Data Breach Notification

If a personal data breach occurs that affects your data, we will notify the Data Protection Board of India as required under the DPDPA, and inform you without undue delay, including what happened, the likely consequences, and the steps being taken to address it.

Your Rights Under the DPDPA

As a Data Principal, you have the right to:

Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it is processed
Request correction, completion, or updating of your personal data
Request erasure of your personal data like your fingerprint impressions even before the data is processed and reports are generated.
Withdraw your consent at any time
Nominate another individual to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of death or incapacity
Register a grievance regarding how your data is handled, and escalate it to the Data Protection Board of India if not resolved.

Consent and Withdrawal

We collect and process your personal and biometric data based on your explicit, informed consent, given via our Consent Form prior to the assessment. For clients under 18, or adults who are legally dependent, consent is given by a parent or legal guardian.

You may withdraw your consent for the usage of finger prints at any time by contacting us. Withdrawing consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal, but may mean we are unable to complete or share your DMIT report.

Children’s and Dependents’ Data

Where the client is a minor (under 18) or a legally dependent adult, we collect verifiable consent from a parent or legal guardian before collecting or processing any personal or biometric data, and all rights under this policy may be exercised by that parent or guardian on the client’s behalf.

We do not track, monitor the behaviour of, or show targeted advertising to children, and we do not process children’s data in any way likely to cause them harm.

Language of This Notice

This policy is provided in English. If you would like it explained or provided in another Indian language, please let us know and we will arrange this for you. We may use available global language translators like Google translators to translate the information as accurately as possible for your use.
